Clearbot, an AI powered autonomous water cleaning electric powered boat is changing the way water bodies are cleaned. An initiative launched by graduates of University of Hongkong, the clearbot uses Nvidia Jetson platform to collect trash from water bodies. Currently it is functional in Hongkong and India.
Clearbot has 24 employees developing and deploying its water-cleaning electric-powered boats that can self-dock at solar charging stations.
According to Nvidia website, the bot trained garbage models on cloud and desktop NVIDIA GPUs from images it took in early days, and now the company has built a large library of images from collecting on cleanup sites and autonomously navigate away from obstacles.
Clearbot is a member of the Nvidia inception program for cutting-edge startups.
The startup is currently working jointly with UC Berkeley Haas School of business to remove trash from Umiam Lake in Meghalaya, India.
Since the program began three months ago, Clearbot has collected 15 tons of waste. Clearbot has expanded its services beyond trash collection to address environmental issues more broadly. The company is now assisting in marine pollution control for sewage, oil, gas and other chemical spills as well as undersea inspections for dredging projects, examining algae growth and many other areas where its autonomous boats can capture data.
